This is the vertical solid part of the panel to which louvres are anchored.
In this image, the louvre would go into the left hand side.

Panel configuration
In this 'panel configuration' image, you can see how this Stile would overlap from the right panel to the left.

Rails are the horizontal sections fixed at either end to the stiles, together forming the frame into which the louvres or solid panels fit. Every panel has a top and bottom rail, larger panels will have a midrail or even more than one midrail, if necessary.
Top and Bottom Rails
In most instances the top & bottom rail will be larger than 80mm. However, the factory will decide the size, unless otherwise specified in the special instruction section in the order section. The top and bottom rail will be the same size if there is a midrail. If you need different size rails, please specify when ordering.

A standard midrail is 76.2mm. If a panel height is over 1800mm, a midrail is normally fitted. If the panel height is over 1800mm and you do not specify the midrail location, we will add a midrail in the centre of panel automatically. If the panel height is over 2200mm and you do not specify the midrail location, then the two midrails will be equally spaced in the panel automatically. We can supply panels without midrails, or with midrails in specified positions (for aesthetic purposes this often happens), but you should be aware that the absence of midrails or their re-positioning may lead us to invalidate the warranty. This will be dealt with on a case by case basis and the warranty can only be guaranteed where we have confirmed this in writing.
This is a vertical bar located on the front of the panels to open and close the louvres.
The hidden tilt rod is located down the side of the panel between the louvres and the side stile. To add to its concealment it is thin, so for reasons of strength, it is made of unfinished brushed aluminium unlike the normal tilt rod which is made of wood finished as the rest of the panel.
The hidden tilt rod is used for aesthetic purposes only where the user wants to avoid having a central rod. The hidden tilt rod is available in all our shutter ranges, and is used with 64mm,89mm and 114mm louvres only.

The Configuration of the panels. e.g, if you have a window that you want to split into 3 panels, you would then choose a 3 panel option. However, you would then need to select which configuration you require:

or

Shutters fixed to the outside of the recess, concertina together and fold back against the wall. There must be the required distances on either side of the window to achieve this.

Shutters fixed to the inside of the window recess concertina together and fold against the recess of the window.

Louvre Pins are used to maintain the louvre position and tension. Additionally, a tension rod can be inserted through a Louvre in the panel. This will require the panel to have holes in the stiles for access to the screw caps on the tension rod. The tension can be adjusted by tightening or loosening the screw caps. The Louvre pin colour is white.
