The Shutter Shop Ltd are fortunate once again to be exhibiting at Decorex 2016. Over the past 30 years we have exhibited at over 25 of the Decorex exhibitions along with hundreds of interior design companies. First the original Decorex at Kensington Roof Gardens, followed by Syon Park, Chelsea Royal Hospital, Kensington Palace Gardens and back to Syon Park. This wonderful setting in beautiful gardens, is an ideal location for an Interior Design Show for professionals.
Decorex International is The UK's leading design show and the only one of its kind for the luxury interiors market. Established in 1978, Decorex – now in its 39th Year – is firmly recognised among the international design community. Today it is considered as the trusted resource for interior designers, architects, hoteliers, restaurant and leisure specifiers, retailers and property developers. With over 400 carefully selected exhibitors from leading brands to emerging talents, this annual show attracts over 13,000 visitors. Decorex takes place every year in September as part of the London Design Festival. The London Decorex show is one of the five design destinations of London Design Festival and the oldest UK design show.
Roots of Design
Every year Decorex incorporates a theme for the show and this year’s theme is ‘The Roots of Design’.
As a family run business, our roots run deep when it comes to interior window shutters.
After setting up The Shutter Shop with two very young children from her home in Hampshire and her first order worth £316, Fiona Kelly - the founding director of The Shutter Shop - with all her hard work has made the company one of the UK’s leading suppliers of shutters to thousands of homes.
Now Fiona Kelly after thirty plus years is sharing the leadership of the company with her son Ben. He has been appointed as director to continue the family business and take the Shutter Shops roots into a new generation.
All of Fiona’s children have worked at the Shutter Shop over the years so they have grown up around her passion. Ben joined in 2015 having learnt the ins and outs of what it takes to take the Shutter Shop to the next 30 years and beyond.
One of Ben's first tasks was to lead The Shutter Shop into a new era with the launch in 2016 of a new website offering a DIY design and buy online service as well as the existing full measure and fit service.
‘Thirty years plus of hard work’, but The Shutter Shop is still ‘Fiona’s baby’ and she will still be part of the team. Fiona has every confidence that her son will continue the success of the family business and looks forward to seeing the new chapter of The Shutter Shops success.
The Shutter Shop welcomes all new and existing clients to follow Ben into this new phase for the business and to meet both Fiona and Ben at 2016’s Decorex.
Who’s exhibiting at Decorex 2016
Decorex brings a wealth of interior designers, architects, property developers, specifiers and home owners. A wonderful displays of new and sometimes old collections of fabrics, wallpapers, bathrooms, lighting, carpets, blinds, shutters, kitchens and the list goes on.
With all the wonderful intricate designs from the best interior designers, the vibrant and subdued colours mixed to enhance the aurora of style both contemporary and modern to be found at Decorex International 2016.
This year is seeing an unprecedented growth in the number of exhibitors. Over 120 brands will show their products for the first time. This brings the total number of brands exhibiting at Decorex 2016 to over 400! A unique opportunity for everyone interested in interior design to browse through this impressive number of stands and get inspired by the abundance of products on show.
Decorex 2016 is also offering an interesting list of seminars which will take place during the 4 days of the exhibition. The seminar programme is full of relevant topics, from interior design to the future of retailing and the luxury market, from interviews with leading experts to panel discussions. The visitors are sure to find more than an opportunity to get them engaged with such an interesting and diverse selection of speakers.
Shutter Shop at Decorex 2016
The Shutter Shop ltd will be showing our new collection of interior honeycomb blinds, which allow both night and day light filtering in various colours. These are easily fixed to sliding door recesses, windows or even room dividers. These also act as a complete black out solution for bedroom windows behind our shutters using an integrated frame.
Our interior wooden louvre shutters in the 47mm, 64mm, 76mm and 89mm louvres in a variety of wood and MDF finishes from our Antigua (craftwood) range, to our Bermuda, Cuba, Fiji and Sumatra range. Together with our waterproof Java shutter which allows free use in wet areas, such as bathrooms, kitchens, swimming pool areas.
All our shutters are made to measure and suitable for many installations, from café style to tier on tier or full height to be installed in bedrooms, sitting rooms, dining rooms. The colour range is vast, allowing us to colour match a dulux or other brands of paint together with our own standard range of paints and stained shutters.
Wooden venetian blinds will also be featured, these are widely used in London and all the UK in all the colours of our interior wooden shutters.
Exhibiting at Decorex is a fulfilling experience, our visitors are interesting and from all parts of the UK and overseas. We welcome students from the KLC and of course all the BIDA members. We look forward to meeting new and existing interior designers and trade customers at this years exhibition.
Decorex 2016 and London Design Week
Decorex 2016 exhibition is part of the London Design Week and all over London there are pockets of design hubs showing new ideas, often covered in the specialised press and online news.There will be over 400 events in London between the 17th and the 25th of September, and various trade shows. Decorex 2016 will take place between 18-21 September, followed by 100% Design at Olympia (21-24 September) and London Design Fair (22-25 September).
During this period the Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour Hosts Focus/16, not just a design exhibition, but rather an interactive platform. Arts and interiors are strictly connected with the purpose of inspiring and amazing its visitors. Focus/16 also runs a shuttle bus service to Syon Park and Decorex International 2016.
The Chelsea Design Quarter - where Shutter Shop has its base - is filled with inspiration and late night parties as everyone revels in the party atmosphere at the end of a long day walking from one stand or showroom to another.
