Our online Design & Buy service takes you through an easy three step process: choose your product, style and material, enter your measurements for an instant price, then place your order. Every online order is reviewed with you before it becomes final, so there is no risk of a mistake going straight into production.
How long do DIY shutters typically take to arrive?
Standard DIY lead times are typically around 7 to 9 weeks from order confirmation, though this can vary depending on demand and the time of year. Your order confirmation will include the most up to date estimate, and we will keep you updated if anything changes before your shutters are delivered to your door.
Which shutter styles can I design and buy online?
Full height, tier on tier and café-style shutters can all be designed and bought online, across our full range of materials and colours. You choose the product, style, material and configuration, then enter your window measurements for an instant price before placing your order with us directly online today.
Can I buy bay window shutters through the DIY online service?
No. Because of the extra complexity involved in measuring and installing them, bay window shutters, shaped window shutters and tracked sliding shutters are not currently available through our online ordering system. Contact our team for advice and a personalised quotation if you need one of these specialist shutter styles made.
How do I measure my windows for a DIY shutter order?
Download our online measuring guide before you start, then measure each window carefully following the instructions for your chosen style. Accurate measurements matter because every shutter is made to order, and incorrect measurements can lead to fitting issues once your shutters arrive, so take your time and double check everything.
Is my online shutter order final as soon as I pay?
No. Once you submit your online order, we send you an order confirmation detailing every measurement, style and colour, and we ask you to check it carefully before production begins. This gives you a final chance to correct any detail before your shutters go into production and are fully manufactured.
What happens if I make a mistake with my DIY shutter measurements?
If you spot a mistake before you approve your order confirmation, simply let our team know and we will correct it with you. Changes requested after approval may delay production or require a further check measure, so it helps to review your order confirmation carefully as soon as it is sent to you by email.
Do DIY shutters come with fitting instructions?
Yes. Every DIY order includes an order card with a full breakdown of the parts, step by step installation guides covering frames, battens and T-posts, and access to our installation video. Our team is also available by phone if you need help while you fit your own shutters at home yourself.
Can I get help if I'm unsure about measuring or ordering shutters online?
Yes. If you are unsure about measuring your own windows or how the online configurator works, call our team or email us and a specialist will talk you through it. If you would prefer not to measure at all, you can book a free home survey with us instead of ordering online yourself.
Are DIY shutters the same quality as measured and fitted shutters?
Yes. DIY shutters are made from the same materials, in the same factory and to the same specifications as our measure and fit service, and carry the same guarantee. The only difference is that you take your own measurements and install the shutters yourself at a time that suits you and your household best.
What tools will I need to install DIY shutters myself?
You will need flat head and Philips screwdrivers, a spirit level and tape measure, a saw and mitre block for trimming, filler, a nylon headed hammer, wood and masonry drill bits, a countersinking bit and pliers. Our installation guide lists everything you need in full detail before you begin fitting.
Can I order DIY shutters if I live outside London?
Yes. Our Design & Buy Online service supplies bespoke, made-to-measure shutters across the UK mainland, not just in London and the Home Counties. You measure and install the shutters yourself, with the same guides and phone support available wherever in the UK your home happens to be based.
