Home consultation and measuring
During your appointment, our shutter specialist will measure your windows accurately, show you available shutter styles and materials, discuss colour options and configurations, and recommend the most suitable solution for your home.
Receive your quotation
Following the survey, we’ll provide a detailed quotation based on your chosen style, material and design requirements.
Confirm your order
Once you’re happy with the quotation, simply confirm your order and pay the required 50% deposit. We will issue an order confirmation and require written approval before your shutters are placed into production.
Manufacture and delivery
All of our plantation shutters are handcrafted to order and manufactured to your exact specifications. Typical lead times are approximately 9–16 weeks by sea freight or 4–7 weeks by air freight. Please refer to your quotation or order confirmation for the most up-to-date lead time estimate.
Installation appointment
When your shutters arrive at our warehouse, we’ll contact you to arrange a convenient installation date.

Our experienced installation team will fit your shutters, ensuring a perfect finish and smooth operation.

Wherever you are in the UK, you can still design and buy made-to-measure shutters online and fit them yourself.
Do you fit plantation shutters across all of London?
Yes. We survey and fit in every London borough, from Chelsea, Kensington and Fulham to Islington, Wandsworth, Wimbledon, Richmond, Chiswick and Hammersmith, and right out to the edges of Greater London. Our team knows the capital's housing well, from Victorian and Edwardian bays and Georgian sash windows to mansion flats, loft conversions and modern bi-fold doors.
Is the home survey really free?
Yes. Home surveys are free within the M25 and across the Home Counties we cover, with no obligation to buy. A specialist visits with samples, measures every window precisely, talks you through the styles, materials and louvre sizes that suit each room, and then sends you an accurate written quotation.
What if I live outside your measure and fit areas?
You can book a video survey instead. A member of our team looks at your windows with you on a video call, recommends the right style and range, and helps you take accurate measurements. You then order your made-to-measure shutters through our design and buy online service, and we deliver them anywhere in the UK, ready for you to fit.
Which towns do you cover in Surrey?
Our team surveys and fits shutters across Surrey, including Guildford, Woking, Epsom, Reigate, Farnham, Camberley, Weybridge, Esher, Leatherhead and Walton-on-Thames, along with the surrounding villages. Surrey homes range from Victorian villas to new builds, and every shutter is made to the exact measurements of your windows.
Do you install shutters in Hampshire?
Yes. Hampshire is where The Shutter Shop was founded in 1990, and we have fitted shutters there for over 35 years. We cover Winchester, Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Farnborough, Andover, Eastleigh, Fareham, Alton and Petersfield, as well as the villages in between.
Do you cover Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire?
Yes. Our North Oxfordshire office looks after Oxford, Henley, Banbury, Bicester, Abingdon, Witney and the surrounding villages. In Buckinghamshire we cover High Wycombe, Milton Keynes, Beaconsfield, Marlow, Aylesbury, Amersham, Chesham and Gerrards Cross, and in Hertfordshire we survey and fit around St Albans and the surrounding towns.
Can I visit a showroom before I book a survey?
Yes. Our showroom is at 102 Waterford Road, London SW6 2HA, in the Chelsea Design Quarter, and is open 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, by appointment. You can see all seven shutter ranges, compare paint and stain finishes and look at different louvre sizes. If you cannot visit, our surveyor brings samples to your home instead.
Who measures and fits my shutters?
Our own surveyors and fitters. The same team measures your windows, checks every detail of the specification with you and fits the finished shutters, so one company looks after your project from the first visit to the final adjustment. Our installers fit carefully and leave each room as they found it.
How long does installation take after my survey?
Once you confirm your order, standard made-to-measure shutters take around 12 weeks to be made and delivered, and this can increase at busy times of the year. Special shapes and custom colour matches take up to 14 weeks. When your shutters arrive, our local team contacts you to book an installation date that suits you.
What guarantee comes with shutters and blinds bought from The Shutter Shop?
Shutters bought from The Shutter Shop come with a five year guarantee, while blinds carry a one year guarantee. This applies whether you use our full survey and fit service or order through our design and buy online service for UK mainland delivery. If a genuine fault develops within the guarantee period, contact our team and we will advise on the next steps. Keeping your windows finished with sills, architraves and plastering in place before fitting helps your shutters perform as expected.
Do you supply blinds as well as shutters across these areas?
Yes. Alongside our plantation shutters, we supply and fit Venetian, Roman, blackout, roller and honeycomb blinds across London and the Home Counties. The same local surveyors who measure for shutters can also advise on the right blind for a room, whether you want a softer fabric finish or extra blackout for a bedroom. You can also design and buy blinds online if you prefer a DIY option, with delivery anywhere on the UK mainland.
